Birth of the Apostolate
This Apostolate was founded by our President/CEO Deepthi Bracken. She always had a passion for evangelization, and felt a calling to spread the Gospel by serving the poor of her motherland, Sri Lanka. She decided to respond to this calling and met with the Pastor of her parish (St.Patrick Church, Fredericksburg, Virginia), in March of 2024. Her pastor shared his wisdom and supported her in responding to God’s call to serve.
Deepthi is the loving wife to Daniel J. Bracken and the mother to their 7 children. During her childhood, she attended Good Shepherd’s Convent in Kandy, Sri Lanka. This is where she fell in love with the Lord on the crucifix. After many years, the Lord called her to conversion at the age of 42. So, for the past 8 years she’s been living to serve the Lord with much gratitude. She also serves as a Member of the Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Altar society and leads the Flower Guild at her parish.
While she remains a devoted servant in many capacities, it is all made possible by the grace of God and her devotion to Our Lord in the Divine Mercy and the Blessed Virgin Mary.
She truly believes that this is her present calling: to spread God’s word by serving the poor in her motherland, Sri Lanka.
Our Mission
At the heart of our mission lies the commitment to help the poorest of the poor in Sri Lanka, thereby embodying the spirit of generosity and service taught to us in Acts 20:35 “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. We invite everyone to be a part of this ministry by sharing their time, talent, and resources as we aim to uplift and support the weak and vulnerable of this island nation.
Our Team
At Our Mother of Hope Apostolate, our mission is fueled by the dedication and passion of our incredible team of volunteers. These selfless individuals donate their time, skills, and energy without compensation, driven by a deep commitment to our cause and the teachings of Christ.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life, bringing diverse talents and perspectives that enrich our programs and outreach efforts. They are the backbone of our organization, supporting everything from community outreach and religious education to logistical planning and administrative tasks.
Their unwavering dedication ensures that we can continue to provide vital services and support to those in need, all while keeping our operational costs low so that the maximum amount of resources can go directly to our mission. Importantly, the funds we receive from generous donations go straight to our projects in Sri Lanka, where we work to spread the teachings of Christ and provide crucial support to local communities.
We are profoundly grateful for their generosity and devotion, which embody the spirit of Christian charity and service. Together, with your support and the tireless efforts of our volunteers, we can continue to bring hope, love, and faith to Sri Lanka and beyond.
